Cookies and website statistics
You can change your choice at any time here or from the link at the bottom of every page.
Always on, no consent needed: our visit counter
Our own counter, on our server at Cloudflare (api.octo-labs.net). It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. For each page you open, and for some actions on it, your browser sends:
- the page address (without anything after
?or#), and the action: a click on a button or menu item (by a fixed name we gave it, never its text), a link to another site (its domain only), how far you scrolled (25, 50, 75 or 100%), which parts of the page you saw, time on the page (under 10 s, 10–30 s, 30 s–2 min, over 2 min), a video you started, a form started, sent or failed (never what you type), a page not found; - where you came from: the domain of the previous site, the
utm_source,utm_mediumandutm_campaignof the link, and whether the link came from a Google, TikTok or Facebook/Instagram click (we only note that the marker was there, never its value); - whether this is the first page of your visit, a screen size group (4 groups) and your browser language (for example "en").
Our server adds the country (from Cloudflare) and, from your browser's user agent, only the browser family, the system family and the device type (phone, tablet, computer). The user agent itself is not kept. To count unique visitors per day, the server makes a one-way code from your IP address, your user agent, the date and a secret key; the code is kept only until midnight (UTC) and changes every day. Your IP address is never stored. Everything is kept as daily totals (for example "12 visitors from Instagram on phones in Italy"), not per person.
When you send one of our forms (beta application, oppsCord download), we also send where your visit came from (the information above for the first and the latest visit you made, and the first page you opened) and keep it with your request.
Your cookie choice itself is kept in your browser (octo_consent, local storage and a first-party cookie, 6 months).
Analytics, only if you allow it
- Visit journeys: a random ID in your browser (
octo_vid, local storage) and one per visit (octo_sid, session storage), plus where your first and latest visits came from (octo_ft,octo_lt). With them we see the path of your visits (pages, clicks on apply, forms sent, downloads) and whether you came back. We keep these visits for 90 days. If you later send us a form from this browser, the ID is linked to your request (one ID per browser you used): it is then part of your data, included when you ask for a copy and deleted with it. - Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Ltd / Google LLC), only while we use it on this site (the cookie banner names it when it does): cookies
_gaand_ga_…. It starts with Google Consent Mode set to "denied" and loads only after you allow analytics.
Marketing, only if you allow it
- Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd / Meta Platforms, Inc.), only while we use it on this site (the cookie banner names it when it does): cookies
_fbpand_fbc. We use it to measure our ads on Instagram and Facebook: page views, forms sent (Lead), downloads and clicks on apply. Automatic event setup and Advanced Matching are off: we never send your email, phone or other details to Meta.
If you withdraw your consent, the IDs above are deleted from your browser, the Google and Meta cookies are removed and the page reloads without those scripts.
Other providers
- Hosting of this website: Hostinger. Forms, downloads and the counter: our server at Cloudflare.
- The LOCKDIN pages load fonts from Google Fonts. The rest of octo-labs.net uses fonts from our own server.
