oppsCord

Meet your new
aux cord.

oppsCord shows up on your network as an AirPlay speaker called oppsCord. Pick it on your iPhone and whatever plays comes out of the track the plugin sits on. No cables.

Free · macOS: AU · VST3 · Standalone · Windows: VST3

Plugin UI · v0.1.1 · Music: Raq baby, “Free Nick”

How it works

From your pocket
to the session.

Four steps. Your phone becomes
one more input in the studio.

  1. 01

    Load it

Put oppsCord on a stereo track in your DAW, or open the standalone app. It appears on the network as an AirPlay speaker.

  2. 02

    Pick it

On your iPhone, open AirPlay and choose oppsCord like any other speaker on the network.

  3. 03

    Play

Hit play on the phone. The plugin shows the phone as connected, the meter moves, and the sound comes out of the track.

  4. 04

    Mute

MUTE silences the phones. The track keeps its own input.

Features

The shortest cable
in the studio.

01

Your computer shows up as a speaker called oppsCord. Nothing to install on the phone.

02

On the track

The phone audio is mixed onto the track the plugin sits on, with a level meter and the number of phones connected.

Install

Two minutes,
then pick it.

Mac or PC, the phone side
is always the same: AirPlay.

Mac

  1. Open the .pkg and follow the installer. It puts the AU, the VST3 and the oppsCord app in place.
  2. Open your DAW and put oppsCord on a stereo track. Logic uses the AU, Ableton and most others the VST3. No DAW? Open the oppsCord app.
  3. The first time, macOS may ask to let your DAW find devices on the local network. Click Allow.
  4. iPhone and Mac on the same Wi‑Fi. On the iPhone open AirPlay, pick oppsCord, press play.

macOS 11 or later. Signed and notarized by Apple. Pro Tools (AAX) is coming soon.

Windows

  1. Install Bonjour Print Services from Apple (free). The phone finds oppsCord through it.
  2. Unzip and copy the octoGvng oppsCord.vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3.
  3. Open your DAW, rescan plug-ins, put oppsCord on a stereo track.
  4. When Windows asks whether your DAW may use the network, click Allow.
  5. iPhone and PC on the same Wi‑Fi. On the iPhone open AirPlay, pick oppsCord, press play.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, VST3 only for now. The zip has a README with the same steps.

A few things
worth knowing.

Is oppsCord really free?+

Yes. No licence key and no account.

Do I need an app on my phone?+

No. oppsCord uses AirPlay, which is already on your iPhone.

Does it work on Windows?+

Yes, as a VST3 for Windows 10 and 11. It needs Apple’s free Bonjour so the phone can find it. A standalone app for Windows will follow.

The phone does not see oppsCord. What now?+

Check that phone and computer are on the same Wi‑Fi and that the plugin is loaded. On Windows, check that Bonjour is installed and that your DAW is allowed in Windows Defender Firewall (Allow an app through firewall, Private and Public). On a Mac, check System Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network for your DAW.

Windows says a module is blocked from the Local Security Authority.+

That message comes from Bonjour (mdnsNSP.dll) on Windows 11, not from oppsCord. It is harmless and oppsCord works.

Which DAWs?+

Any host that loads AU or VST3: Logic, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper and more. Put it on a stereo track. Pro Tools (AAX) is coming soon. On Mac there is also a standalone app.
